Texture starts with the fraction
The finer the grain, the calmer and more uniform the surface appears. Medium fractions create a visible profile and can improve slip resistance. Coarse grains form a pronounced mineral texture.
Final colour also depends on the binder tint and transparency, layer thickness, lighting and topcoat—not only on the aggregate.
Resin and decorative floors
Quartz can be mixed into resin or broadcast over a fresh layer and then sealed. This creates a decorative, durable and textured surface.
Select grain size to match the system thickness and desired profile. Aggregate that is too coarse may not be fully encapsulated in a thin layer, while very fine material may not deliver the required slip resistance.
Landscaping and outdoor use
Coarser fractions are used for decorative ground cover, paths and permeable drainage layers. Consider traffic loads, substrate preparation and how the material will be retained within the area.
- approve colour and texture using a physical sample;
- test the aggregate with the selected binder or topcoat;
- for flooring, assess slip resistance and cleanability;
- outdoors, provide edging and a properly prepared base.
